Light Sand Application to Maintain Green Conditions

Ideal green conditions are maintained by continuing to apply thin layers of sand in However, in the field, factors such as “work hours,” “staffing,” and “rubbing in the material after spreading” can pose obstacles, sometimes preventing these tasks from being performed with sufficient frequency.
The HDS2 is a green-specific light sand applicator developed to apply light sand (thin-layer sand) more efficiently, with higher quality, and on a continuous basis.
a planned manner.

Supporting Systematic Fine Sand Operations

In golf course management, it is not uncommon for daily work schedules to be altered due to weather conditions or unexpected situations.
Tasks that require a large number of personnel are often omitted from the workflow, which ultimately leads to a decrease in the frequency of sand application.
The HDS2 significantly reduces the amount of work required to work the sand into the greens after spreading, making it easier to perform the entire sanding process with a smaller crew.
This makes it easier to continue sanding operations even in environments where staffing is challenging, and facilitates its integration into routine maintenance procedures.
It enables efficient sanding even within limited maintenance time, supporting the maintenance of consistent green quality through continuous sand application.

Differences from Previous Models

With conventional drop-seeding and broadcast-seeding methods, sand tends to remain on the turf, requiring it to be worked into the soil.
In addition, damage to the turf and sand being kicked up during mowing can lead to blade wear and increased maintenance costs.

With the HDS2, sand penetrates the grass blades, reducing the need for raking.
This minimizes damage to the grass and prevents sand from being kicked up during mowing. As a result, it also reduces the risk of wear on the mower’s blades.

Delivering Sand to the Lawn

Delivering Sand into the Turf, Not Blowing It Away
By lowering the spinner position to approximately 400 mm above the ground, sand is propelled onto the turf at a sharp angle and with high energy.
The dispersed sand reaches the turf while maintaining its momentum, allowing it to penetrate the turf fibers efficiently.
As a result, the need for post-application raking is significantly reduced, helping to cut down on both work time and labor requirements.

High Work Efficiency

Thanks to the new spinner system, the spray width remains the same as before at 6.5 meters, but the threshold for maintaining uniformity has increased, making it possible to apply a higher spray volume or increase the spray speed. With settings tailored to the course, you can spray efficiently and complete light sanding operations quickly, even within limited working hours.

Uniform Distribution Ensures High-Quality Putting

Light sand application is a critical task for maintaining the smoothness of the green surface and ensuring healthy turf management.
The HDS2 features a completely redesigned spinner unit, which improves spreading performance and reduces unevenness in distribution.
It can spread sand quickly and evenly across the entire green while accommodating a variety of sand types.
It supports consistent green conditions and high-quality putting.

A low-floor design that provides a sense of stability

Features a lower-floor design than previous models.
This reduces the workload during sand loading and ensures a smooth loading process. The low center of gravity also provides stability while driving.

Lightweight and Compact Design

The HDS2 features a three-wheel layout, resulting in a lightweight and compact body.
It allows for smooth turning even around narrow greens while minimizing the load on the green.
By reducing the strain on the turf, it also minimizes damage to the grass around the green.

Reducing Maintenance Work

Light Sand Application Designed with the Next Day’s Maintenance in Mind
By applying a thin, even layer of sand to the turf efficiently, this method reduces excess sand after spreading.
Since sand is less likely to remain on the surface even after watering, this method:
• Reduces the amount of sand that needs to be collected during the next day’s mowing
• Reduces the load on the mower
• Minimizes wear on the reel blades and bed knives

As a result, this not only improves green maintenance quality but also reduces the labor and maintenance costs associated with daily management, while contributing to the sustained quality of the greens.
